Who doesn't recognize the iconic Cesca chair? Designed by Marcel Breuer in the 1920s. At its time, it was utterly revolutionary and still remains a timeless classic. Over time, there have been many reproductions and variations produced.
We believe this set was sold by Habitat in the 1970s, during the British Habitat heyday. The seatpad frames are squared at the edges rather than the rounded curves of the originals and the dimensions are different to the original, licensed Cesca chairs.
Nonetheless, in the ethos of Habitat of the time, the quality is excellent bearing the original Made in Italy marking to the seat undersides and labels underneath the chrome frame. The cantilevered chromed steel frame is made of a single steel tube in the manner of the originals. All the seat pads have been newly recaned to recapture the original elasticity and buoyancy. The black surrounds have been relacquered,
The chairs do have sections for floor protectors which are no longer on the chairs, replacements can be easily found online.
A high quality set oozing in style and sophistication, beautifully refinished and ready to be used for another 50 years.
