Grindley began producing ceramics at the Newfield Pottery in Tunstall in Stoke-on-Trent, England. In 1891, the company expanded and moved to Woodfield Pottery, also in Tunstall. The company manufactured a wide range of earthenware and ironstone pieces with the express intention of exporting to the USA, South America, Canada, and Australia.

Grindley used transfers to create its pattern design, thus eliminating the need for skilled designers and painters. Products include dinnerware services, pitchers, platters, and toilets sets
