Mid Century Modern G Plan Danish Range Large Extendable Dining Table Designed by Ib Kofod Larsen.

Rare early 1960's teak and afromosia wood dining table by leading Danish designer Ib Kofod Larsen for G Plan. This table, model 4320, dates to 1962 and forms part of the G Plan Danish Design Dining Group range. The gold label is present.

The design of the extended table is typical of the Danish philosphy of form and function.  The leaves are stored underneath the main frame and are easily positioned onto extending arms when needed, giving the unextended tabletop a seamless and flawless finish.  

Ib Kofod Larsen is perhaps one of the most renowned mid century furniture designers internationally.  He was a master craftsman who worked with natural materials to create beautiful items of furniture such as this. Teak was one of his favourite materials and you can see why. He always ensured the wood grain played its part, with thoughtful placement to create a perfect marriage between the natural components and manmade design.

But let's not forget our rectangular table has a practical and multifunctional role to play too. Before it is extended, the dining table can seat up to 6 but when extended you can seat 10 people. This makes it a great dining table for larger families and / or those who love to host the ultimate dinner party.
