Beaver and Tapley Glazed Bookcase by Robert Heritage
Mid Century Beaver and Tapley Teak and Glass Display Cabinet / Bookcase Designed by Robert Heritage.
Slim enough to fit in an entrance hall, this is a beautifully finished 1960's glass fronted bookcase with closed cupboards (with sliding wooden doors) to the lower half. Designed by Robert Heritage for Beaver and Tapley, a renowned British furniture manufacturer established in the early 1900s. With its simple Mid Century Modern lines that draw the eye to the wood grain finish, this is a stylish as well as multi functional cabinet. The glass doors slide open, making it easy to access your books or collectibles and the lower section is ideal for keeping those 'not for display' items tidied away.
Beaver and Tapley collaborated with Penguin books to create purpose built bookcases and this would be ideal for anyone who is a collector. It is also a practical piece of furniture for a home office, with plenty of storage space for your files and stationery. After all who says your working from home situation needs to be dull? Whether you place this centre stage in your living room with your prized China or need a multifunctional storage solution, this is a wonderful piece of British 20th Century design that has been professionally restored to add a little elegance to your home interior.

Details: Beaver and Tapley was founded in London by Newman Richardson, towards the end of the first World War, to deal in Government surplus stock. The firm sold regimental ties, which in turn led to tie and trouser presses. The 1930s is when furniture production really began with tea trolleys and items of household furniture.
A family affair, by the mid 1950s Roger Richardson joined his father, Justin, and together they created a new strategy to sell high quality designer led pieces. The first of which was the Penguin bookshelf (1956), swiftly followed by other pieces, including the Tapley SL, a floating modular system that came with its own spirit level (hence the SL in its name) to ensure it was accurately placed on a wall.
Beaver and Tapley has a long, established history as an English furniture brand and are still selling furniture to this day.
